Hand-Painted Dresser with birds and mirror by Alain Nowak

Born in 1947 at Chambon Feugerolles, Loire, France.  He has lived in Canada since 1951.  His art form is called ‘outsider’ art .  An outsider artist has no formal art training.  His art utilizes discarded wooden structures and  turns old furniture into a work of art, using bright colored paints and the designs of the early Canadian settlers such as the Doukhobors, Ukrainians and Hutterites.

  2. Alain is a superior artist,; I would go as far as to say that he is a paradigm to be imitated…however, one may try but will find that Alain’s talent is inimitable. I have known this artist since high school, and he has always been the kind of person rare in the world…He does everything to absolute perfection but who is humble regarding his gifts. Anyone who goes to the Dragonfly Gallery or chances upon his work in someone’s home or at an auction should consider themselves fortunate in the best way possible, short of purchasing a piece that they can call their own.
