PAUL KOHL - Portrait by Pierre Le Provost ©Le Provost

Paul Kohl’s pictures: a perfect balance of strength and serenity…

Paul Kohl’s creative eye highlights details in the scene that we may otherwise miss and he composes with light, lines, perspective and depth of field to make us discover the hidden beauty of the world he chooses to depict.

His pictures reflect the stength of those who know how to discard the superfluous in their images and with just a few elements Paul makes you imagine a full story; simple things quietly gain a new life…
With their grainy texture, their voluptuous black, subtle gray, Paul’s images exhale a quiet, poetic and serene mood.

Paul Kohl brilliantly masters the art of printing; his pictures are printed on a beautiful handmade Japanese paper (Bizan from Awagami Factory) adding a distinctive quality and finish to Paul’s work.
As Tan Kay Ngee from the Tan Kay Ngee architects-gallery  Singapore (where Paul Kohl lately showcased his work) puts it: “Through his lens, Paul seeks the chance to celebrate the transitory beauty of the real and to participate in the ecstatic potential of the simple.”
